Inspirational Quotes from Famous People

Destiny is no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice: It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.
William Jennings Bryan quotes (American Politician and Orator. 1860-1925)

Character is the sum and total of a person's choices.
P. B. Fitzwater quotes

Your life is the sum result of all the choices you make, both consciously and unconsciously. If you can control the process of choosing, you can take control of all aspects of your life. You can find the freedom that comes from being in charge of yourself.
Robert F. Bennett quotes

Some choices we live not only once but a thousand times over, remembering them for the rest of our lives.
Richard Bach quotes (American Writer, author of 'Jonathan Livingston Seagull', b.1936)

For what is the best choice for each individual is the highest it is possible for him to achieve.
Aristotle quotes (Ancient Greek Philosopher, Scientist and Physician, 384 BC-322 BC)

Happiness and love are just a choice away.
Leo F. Buscaglia quotes (American guru, tireless advocate of the power of love, 1924-1998)

Be miserable. Or motivate yourself. Whatever has to be done, it's always your choice.
Wayne Dyer quotes (American motivational Speaker and Author of self-help best selling books. b.1940)

They used us as an excuse to go mad and then blamed it on us. Gandhi says create and preserve the image of your choice. The image of my choice is not Beatle George - those who want that can go and see Wings. Why live in the past? Be here now.
George Harrison quotes (Musician, producer and composer, member of The Beatles, 1943-2001)

I choose my friends for their good looks, my acquaintances for their good characters, and my enemies for their intellects. A man cannot be too careful in the choice of his enemies.

It is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.
Joanne Kathleen Rowling quotes (English Writer, author of Harry Potter, b. b.1965)

In America, through pressure of conformity, there is freedom of choice, but nothing to choose from.

What the Bible says about Choice

When God's priorities become mine, He promises to guide me. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6, NIV

If our priorities are right everything will be right. "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Matthew 6:33, NIV.

Meaning of Choice

Choice consists of the mental process of thinking involved with the process of judging the merits of multiple options and selecting one of them for action. Some simple examples include deciding whether to get up in the morning or go back to sleep, or selecting a given route for a journey. More complex examples (often decisions that affect what a person thinks or their core beliefs) include choosing a lifestyle, religious affiliation, or political position.

Most people regard having choices as a good thing, though a severely limited or artificially restricted choice can lead to discomfort with choosing and possibly, an unsatisfactory outcome. In contrast, unlimited choice may lead to confusion, regret of the alternatives not taken, and indifference in an unstructured existence; and the illusion that choosing an object or a course leads necessarily to control of that object or course can cause psychological problems.9
