Respect and the Bible

God is worthy of great respect. "Don't come any closer," God told him. "Take off your shoes, for you are standing on holy ground." Exodus 3:5, TLB.

Respect must be shown to the elderly. "Rise in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God." Leviticus 19:32, NIV

Those in authority are worthy of respect. "But then [David's] conscience began bothering him, 'I shouldn't have done it,' he said to his men. 'It is a serious sin to attack God's chosen king in any way.'" I Samuel 24:5-6, TLB.

We should be respectful of everyone.  "Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king." I Peter 2:17, NIV.
