Bible Quotes
As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness; when I awake, I shall be satisfied with your likeness.
(Psalm 17:15) ESV

A voice says, “Cry!” And I said, “What shall I cry?” All flesh is grass, and all its beauty is like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades when the breath of the Lord blows on it; surely the people are grass. The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.
(Isaiah 40:6-8)

Then this Daniel became distinguished above all the other presidents and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him. And the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom.
(Daniel 6:3) ESV

You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
(Matthew 5:48) ESV

And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,
(Philippians 1:9,10) ESV

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
(Philippians 4:8) ESV

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.
(2 Timothy 3:16,17) ESV

His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.
(2 Peter 1:3,4) ESV1

Inspirational Quotes from Famous People

All human excellence is but comparative. There may be persons who excel us, as much as we fancy we excel the meanest.

Badness you can get easily, in quantity; the road is smooth, and it lies close by, But in front of excellence the immortal gods have put sweat, and long and steep is the way to it.

Excellence and the Bible

The first necessary quality of a spiritual leader who “stands out” is the spirit of excellence! He who strives for excellence will not be counted among the also-rans. The question is asked, “How does a spiritual leader develop the attitude of a spirit of excellence in a day when almost anything can be passed off as good enough”? Our answer must come from God Himself. In the parable of the talents, the good servant is commended while the lazy servant is not only denounced, but his laziness is equated with wickedness (Matthew 25:14-30). Let us also note Paul’s admonition, “Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord” (Romans 12:11). The following are seven ways God brings about the spirit of excellence in us:

1) By helping us realize our own weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

2) Through the prayers of others (Colossians 4:12; 1 Thessalonians 1:2).

3) Through someone sharing the Word with us (1 Thessalonians 3:10).

4) As we study the Bible for ourselves (Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:2; 2 Timothy 2:15; 2 Timothy 3:16-17).

5) Through suffering (1 Peter 5:10).

6) By giving us a “hunger” for holiness (2 Corinthians 7:1).

7) Through a desire to have the fruit of our lives brought to perfection (Luke 8:14).

Christ, who is the “author and finisher of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2) waits to take over our frustrations and failures and turn them into “joyful” accomplishments that bring glory to the Lord (Matthew 5:16). The One who still does “all things well” (Mark 7:37) is waiting to “make you perfect in every good work … working in you that which is well-pleasing in his sight” (Hebrews 13:21).2
