Bible Quotes

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
(Psalm 27:14)

Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
(Psalm 37:7)

4For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. 5May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, 6so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
(Romans 15:4-6)

If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, Fulfill ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
(Philippians 2:1-3)

Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
(1 Thessalonians 5:11)

May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope,
(2 Thessalonians 2:16)

Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints.
(Philemon 1:7)

In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons: "My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son.
(Hebrews 12:4-6)

Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
(1 Peter 1:6)

Inspirational Quotes from Famous People

Correction does much, but encouragement does more.
--
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe quotes (German Playwright, Poet, Novelist and Dramatist. 1749-1832)

Students that receive encouragement (from their parents) to participate in a program that they're interested in are more likely to succeed,
--
John Wise quotes

I don't have the money to take home, but I did get a lot of encouragement. I'm optimistic.
--
Mark Peters quotes

Correction does much, but encouragement does more. Encouragement after censure is as the sun after a shower.
--
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe quotes (German Playwright, Poet, Novelist and Dramatist. 1749-1832)

Tell a child, a husband or an employee that he is stupid or dumb at a certain thing, that he has no gift for it, and that he is doing it all wrong and you have destroyed almost every incentive to try to improve. But use the opposite technique, be liberal with encouragement; make the thing seem easy to do, let the other person know that you have faith in his ability to do it, that he has an undeveloped flair for it -- and he will practice until the dawn comes in at the window in order to excel.
--
Dale Carnegie quotes (American lecturer, author, 1888-1955)

Encouragement and the Bible

We can be encouraged by the example of others. "Therefore, brothers, in all our distress and persecution we were encouraged about you because of your faith." I Thessalonians 3:7, NIV.

Reflecting on our eternal hope in Christ offers encouragement. "So be truly glad! There is wonderful joy ahead, even though the going is rough for a while down here." I Peter 1:6, TLB.

We are encouraged through encouraging others. "For I long to visit you so that I can impart to you the faith that will help your church grow strong in the Lord. Then, too, I need your help, for I want not only to share my faith with you but to be encouraged by yours: Each of us will be a blessing to the other." Romans 1:11-12, TLB.

Encouragement comes from remembering how God has led in the past. "And the people replied, 'We would never forsake the Lord and worship other gods! For the Lord our God is the one who rescued our fathers from their slavery in the land of Egypt. He is the God who did mighty miracles before the eyes of Israel, as we traveled through the wilderness, and preserved us from our enemies when we passed through their land." Joshua 24:16-17,

Build each other up by finding something you appreciate. "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." I Thessalonians 5:11, NIV.

Consistently encourage new believers. "They helped the believers to grow in love for God and each other. They encouraged them to continue in the faith in spite of all the persecution, reminding them that they must enter into the Kingdom of God through many tribulations." Acts 14:21-22, TLB.

Encourage your church leaders. "Dear brothers, honor the officers of your church who work hard among you and warn you against all that is wrong. Think highly of them and give them your wholehearted love because they are straining to help you." I Thessalonians 5:12-13, TLB.

God offers encouragement when we're feeling down. "For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11, TLB.

God promises encouragement when I need it. "When I pray, You answer me, and encourage me by giving me the strength I need." Psalm 138:3, TLB.

For your encouragement, remember God isn't finished with any of us yet. "And I am sure that God who began the good work within you will keep right on helping you grow in his grace until his task within you is finally finished on that day when Jesus Christ returns." Philippians 1:6, TLB.5
