Inspirational Quotes from Famous People

Sometimes we need to remind ourselves that thankfulness is indeed a virtue.
--

-
Daniel Defoe quotes

Thankfulness and the Bible

Start the day with a thankful attitude. "It is good to say thank you to the Lord, to sing praises to the God who is above all gods. Every morning tell him, 'Thank you for Your kindness,' and every evening rejoice in all His faithfulness." Psalm 92:1-2, TLB.

One of the first marks of rejecting God is forgetting to thank him. "Yes, they knew about Him all right, but they wouldn't admit it or worship Him or even thank Him for all his daily care. And after awhile they began to think up silly ideas of what God was like and what He wanted them to do. The result was that their foolish minds became dark and confused." Romans 1:21, TLB.

Give thanks in every situation. "Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." I Thessalonians 5:18, NIV.

In giving thanks to God; don't forget from where our blessings come. "Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits." Psalms 103:2, NIV.5

feeling or expressing gratitude; appreciative.4

Gratitude

Gratitude, thankfulness, or appreciation is a positive emotion or attitude in acknowledgment of a benefit that one has received or will receive. The experience of gratitude has historically been a focus of several world religions, and has been considered extensively by moral philosophers such as Adam Smith. The systematic study of gratitude within psychology only began around the year 2000, possibly because psychology has traditionally been focused more on understanding distress rather than understanding positive emotions. However, with the advent of the positive psychology movement, gratitude has become a mainstream focus of psychological research. The study of gratitude within psychology has focused on the understanding of the short term experience of the emotion of gratitude (state gratitude), individual differences in how frequently people feel gratitude (trait gratitude), and the relationship between these two aspects.8
