Bible Quotes

4 "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. 5 "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
(Genesis 3:4,5) NIV

6 "I said, 'You are "gods"; you are all sons of the Most High.' 7 But you will die like mere men; you will fall like every other ruler."
(Psalm 82:6,7) NIV

For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
(Matthew 24:24) KJV

For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and miracles to deceive the elect—if that were possible.
(Mark 13:22)

Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your Law, 'I have said you are gods'?
(John 10:34) NIV

In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
(John 14:2) KJV

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
(John 14:12) KJV

A man reaps what he sows.
(Galatians 6:7b) NIV

6And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. 7For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. 8And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. 9The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, 10and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.
(2 Thessalonians 2:6-12) NIV

1Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.
(1 John 4:1-3) NIV

New Age Doctrines

Pantheism. This doctrine believes that "All is God" or "God is All." This allows all individuals to become God themselves, once they realize the potential within them. Even beyond this point is the idea that natural objects such as rocks and trees are, too, God within themselves.

God. An impersonal energy force, immanent in all things. To the New Age, "god" can be referred to either as she or he, mother or father, god or goddess. Most New Age teachers hold that Mother Earth, the sun, the moon, and the stars - indeed all of nature - can be worshipped as "god."

Jesus Christ. Christ: A reincarnated avatar, Messiah, or messenger sent from the "hierarchy" to give the living on earth spiritually advanced revelation. The New Age contends that Buddha, Mohammed, Confucius, Jesus, and many others were "christs," but one greater than all of them will soon come to usher in the New Age. To the Christian, this coming New Age "christ" is, in fact, the Antichrist.

Man, Sin, Salvation. In this belief, each person is God; therefore, sin has no place in the theological framework, and salvation is found only when one realizes that everything is within.

Reincarnation. The meaning behind this word is "again in flash." New Agers believe that they will continue to be reincarnated until they have the right "karma" or have lived correctly. It is only at this point that they find their perfect peace.

Spirit Channeling. The idea behind this is to allow the spirits to overtake one's body and speak through them. This teaching is prevalent in the movement. This is where the occult really begins to enter New Age practice, eventually leading to other routines such as trances and clairvoyance.

Angels: More frequently called "Ascended Masters, masters of Wisdom, Ancient masters, spirit guides, inner guides, spirit counsellors, one's Higher Self, the Self, Superbeings, aeons, muses or walkins." Collectively called the "hierarchy." Whichever term is used, the discerning Christian will recognize these shadowy entities not as "angels", but as demons.

Born Again (Rebirth): Personal or Planetary transformation and healing. The point at which a New Age believer "lets go" and allows his Higher Self or Inner Guide (translated: demons) to guide and direct his life. Some New Agers describe this as Kundalini, a Hindu term meaning "serpent power."

The Second coming: It is claimed that at the Second Coming a New Age believer achieves "christ consciousness," an exalted, higher state in which he is spiritually transformed into a divine being. This phrase also can mean the appearance on earth of the New Age messiah, or "christ." and his hierarchy of demons.

Heaven/Kingdom of God: The New Age, or Aquarian Age, is expected to be the era when heaven and the Kingdom of God are realized on earth. The reincarnated "christ" (the Antichrist) is to reign over the new Age, bringing in a One World Religion and consolidating all nations into a Global New World Order or one monolithic government.

Hell: New Agers deny the existence of hell and a judgement. Hell is not a place but an experience here on Earth; it is a state of mind. They also deny that sin and evil exist. God is alleged to be beyond good and evil.9-11

Quotes from New Age Sources

"I am an entity much like you, Barbara. I simply don't have a body at this time."
It was Dr. Carstairs talking. Dr. Carstairs is an English physician from the 1860's. His spirit generally spends its time floating around the astral plane, I am told, but at this particular moment it had taken up residence in the Body of Bonney Meyer, a registered nurse from San Diego. (The San Diego Union, Their spirits are willing, Section C. pg. 1 Nov. 12, 1987.)

There are many entities about such as myself. Man is not the only living, thinking, breathing creature in the galaxy. Entities that come from other planets right now are about your planet waiting for the time to introduce themselves. (The San Diego Union, Their spirits are willing, Section C. pg. 1 Nov. 12, 1987.)

Shirley Maclaine said, "We are at any given moment living the totality of everything....The vibrational oscillation of nature is quickening....Just remember that you are God, and act accordingly."

T.I.C.'s (The Inner Christ) purpose is to assist every individual to know themselves as a Christ, to clearly and safely channel guidance and prophecy for themselves from their own Inner Christ and to gain dominion over their life circumstances through prayer and self-revelation. T.I.C. makes the intellectual concept that we are God a reality. (From a tract from the Teaching of the Inner Christ, What is T.I.C.?)

Representatives of some of the nation's largest corporations, including I.B.M., A.T.&T., and General Motors, met in New Mexico in July [1986] to discuss how metaphysics, the occult and Hindu mysticism might help executives compete in the world marketplace. (The New York Times, Spiritual Concepts Drawing a Different Breed of Adherent. Section Y page 8. Sept. 29, 1986.)

At Stanford University's well-regarded Graduate School of Business, the syllabus for a seminar on "Creativity in Business" includes meditation, chanting, "dream work," the use of tarot cards and discussion of the "New Age Capitalist." (The New York Times, Spiritual Concepts Drawing a Different Breed of Adherent. Section Y page 8. Sept. 29, 1986.)

One concept commonly transmitted in these sessions [seminars and workshops on human potential]...is that because man is a deity equal to God he can do no wrong; thus, there is no sin, no reason for guilt in life. (The New York Times, Spiritual Concepts Drawing a Different Breed of Adherent. Section Y page 8. Sept. 29, 1986.)

The Pleiadians are a collective of extraterrestrials from the star system the Pleiades. The Pleiadian culture is ancient and was ‘seeded' from another universe of love long before earth was created. They have formed a tremendous society which operates with love, with ideas and ideals with which we are yet unfamiliar. Although the Pleiadians exist in what we would call our future, they call themselves our ancient family because many of us came here from the Pleiades to participate in the experiment of earth. As they once promised us, the Pleiadians have returned to earth and are now here to help guide us during this time of planetary awakening as earth moves through her transition from the third to the fourth dimension and to assist each of us in our personal journeys of remembering, deepening awareness and knowing. (From a handout at the San Diego Convention Center, The Pleiadians, Channeled by Barbara J. Marciniak)

New Age Movement and the Bible

The New Age Movement (NAM) says that Jesus is only one of many ways to God. But Jesus said He was the only way to God. "Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6, NIV

The New Age Movement places Jesus on the same level with Buddha, Mohammed, Confucius but the Bible says that God has given Jesus a name that is above every name. "Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:" Philippians 2:9

The New Age Movement seeks power from crystals but Jesus said "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth." Matthew 28:18

The New Age Movement says that Jesus is God "among many gods". The bible says that there is but ONE GOD and One Mediator between God and men-- the man Christ Jesus. "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." 1 Timothy 2:5

The New Age Movement says that each and every one of us are gods. The oldest deception Satan has since the beginning is to convince himself and others that they are gods. The devil told Eve in the Garden of Eden, "ye shall be as gods". The Lord Jesus said "Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve." Matthew 4:10

NAM believes the Law of Rebirth, Reincarnation and Karma. This teaches that man does not really die. He is, instead, "endlessly reborn into new life cycles until such time as he perfects himself sufficiently to qualify for endless rest (nirvana)." Here, the soul returns into another body after death and the quality of the next life will be determined by how he has lived in the past life. However the Bible teaches "Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him." Hebrews 9:27,28, NIV

NAM teaches that Man's basic nature is good and divine. This opposes God's Word which says that we are sinners: "Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned." Romans 5:12, NIV.

NAM teaches that since man is divine by nature, he then has divine qualities. This is an important part of NAM thinking. Because the average New Ager believes himself to be divine, he can then create his own reality. If, for example, a person believes that reincarnation is true, that's fine because that is his reality. If someone he knows doesn't believe in it, that is alright too because that is someone else's reality. They can each have a reality for themselves that "follows a different path." In contrast to this, the Bible says that God alone is the creator: "This is what the LORD says -- your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb: I am the LORD, who has made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who spread out the earth by myself." Isaiah 44:24, NIV.

New Age philosophy generally seeks to merge with those philosophies that put man and nature on an equal level. We are no more or less important or different than our cousin the animal, bird, or fish. We must live in harmony with them, understand them, and learn from them, is the general philosophy of the New Age. This is opposed to the Scriptural teaching of man's superiority over animals. "Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." Genesis 1:26, NIV

The average New Ager is looking for a single world leader who, with New Age principles, will guide the world into a single harmonious economic whole. It is also hoped that this leader will unite the world into a spiritual unity; that is, a one world religion. The New Age hope is reminiscent of the Scriptures that speak of the coming Antichrist: "Don't let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God's temple, proclaiming himself to be God." 2 Thessalonians. 2:3-4

NAM believes man to have infinite potential. This arrogant conclusion based upon false concepts of grandiose self worth, is a deceptive, self-satisfying indulgence into pride. As Satan wanted to be like God (Isaiah 14:12-17) and encouraged Adam and Eve to be like God also (Gen. 3:1-5), the New Ager listens to the echo of that Edenic lie and yields to it willingly.9-12

Meaning of New Age Movement

The New Age (also known as the New Age Movement, New Age Spirituality, and Cosmic Humanism) is a decentralized Western social and spiritual movement that seeks "Universal Truth" and the attainment of the highest individual human potential. It combines aspects of cosmology, astrology, esotericism, alternative medicine, music, collectivism, sustainability, and nature. New Age Spirituality is characterized by an individual approach to spiritual practices and philosophies, while rejecting religious doctrine and dogma.

The New Age Movement includes elements of older spiritual and religious traditions ranging from atheism and monotheism through classical pantheism, naturalistic pantheism, and panentheism to polytheism combined with science and Gaia philosophy: particularly archaeoastronomy, astronomy, ecology, environmentalism, the Gaia hypothesis, psychology, and physics. New Age practices and philosophies sometimes draw inspiration from major world religions: Buddhism, Chinese folk religion, Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism, and Sufism; with particularly strong influences from East Asian religions, Gnosticism, Neopaganism, New Thought, Spiritualism, Theosophy, Universalism, and Western esotericism. Additional phrases which refer to the New Age Movement include All is One and Mind-Body-Spirit.

The modern New Age Movement began in the late 1960s and early 1970s, although elements can be traced back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It gained momentum in the 1980s and strengthened with the Harmonic Convergence event in 1987. Diverse individuals from around the world practice New Age Spirituality.4
