Consistency and the Bible

God Himself is consistent, Psalms 33:11 says “the counsel of the Lord Yahweh stands forever, the thoughts of His heart to all generations”.

God has made us in His image and His likeness, He is consistent, He never
changes, the Bible says “He is the same, yesterday, today and forever”.

God expects consistent faithfulness; we shouldn’t just start with God, but we must remain faithful to God to the end. (Mark 13:13)

God expects consistent obedience; God told David about being constant (I Chronicles 28:6-7) “and He said to me, Solomon your son, he shall build My house and My courts; for I have chosen him to be My son, and I will be his father. Moreover I will establish his kingdom forever, if he be constant to do My commandments and My judgments as of this day”.

David is known as a man after God’s own heart, and David prayed for consistency (Psalms 51:10)
“create in me a clean heart; O God; and renew a right spirit within me”. And we know that he received it, because he declares in Psalms 108:1, “O God, my heart is fixed, I will sing and give praise, even with my glory”.

The psalmist in Psalms 112:5-8 “a good man shows favor and lends, he will guide his affairs with discretion.  Surely he shall not be moved forever, the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.  He shall not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord Yahweh.  His heart is established, he shall not be afraid,
until he see his desire upon his enemies”.

King Saul was characterized by inconsistency, disobedience and self-will, he did not have a heart for God. Yet Samuel, the judge was characterized by consistency,
obedience and a deep desire for God’s will.

The apostles were consistent (Acts 2:42) says “and they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship and in breaking of bread, and in prayers”.

We are told to be consistent (I Corinthians 15:58) “therefore, my beloved brethren, be you steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord”.

A good reputation comes by consistently living out the qualities you believe in, no matter what people are doing around you (Psalms 125:1) says “they that trust in the Lord Yahweh shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abides forever."

The secret of consistency is trust in God (Proverbs 3:5-8) “trust in the Lord Yahweh with all your heart; and lean not to your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.  Be not wise in your own eyes; fear (reverence) the Lord Yahweh, and depart from evil.  It shall be health to your navel, and marrow to your bones”.  We have to remember that God never changes.5
