17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! 18If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.
(Psalm 139:17,18)

Bible Quotes

29 And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left. 30And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life.
(Judges 16:29,30)

While he himself went a day's journey into the desert. He came to a broom tree, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. "I have had enough, LORD," he said. "Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors."
(1 Kings 19:4)

1 "Does not man have hard service on earth? Are not his days like those of a hired man? 2 Like a slave longing for the evening shadows, or a hired man waiting eagerly for his wages, 3 so I have been allotted months of futility, and nights of misery have been assigned to me.
(Job 7:1-3)

O that thou wouldest hide me in .,the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me!
(Job 14:13)

And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.
(Psalm 9:10)

When the sun rose, God provided a scorching east wind, and the sun blazed on Jonah's head so that he grew faint. He wanted to die, and said, "It would be better for me to die than to live."
(Jonah 4:8)

6Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? 7But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.
(Luke 12:6,7)

20I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. 21For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. 22If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! 23I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far;
(Philippians 1:20-23)

During those days men will seek death, but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them.
(Revelation 9:6)

Inspirational Quotes from Famous People

Anyone desperate enough for suicide...should be desperate enough to go to creative extremes to solve problems: elope at midnight, stow away on the boat to New Zealand and start over, do what they always wanted to do but were afraid to try.
--Richard Bach quotes (American Writer, author of 'Jonathan Livingston Seagull', b.1936)

There is but one truly serious philosophical problem, and that is suicide. Judging whether life is or is not worth living amounts to answering the fundamental question of philosophy.
--Albert Camus quotes (French Novelist, Essayist and Playwright, 1957 Nobel Prize for Literature, 1913-1960)

No one ever lacks a good reason for suicide.
--Cesare Pavese quotes (Italian Poet, Critic, Novelist and Translator, who introduced many modern US and English writers to Italy. 1908-1950)

In advertising, not to be different is virtual suicide.
--William Bernbach quotes (American advertising executive, 1911-1982)

Never murder a man when he's busy committing suicide.
--
Woodrow T. Wilson quotes (American 28th President of the United States 1856-1924)

To make yourself something less than you can be - that too is a form of suicide.
--
Benjamin Lichtenberg quotes

Drunkenness is temporary suicide: the happiness that it brings is merely negative, a momentary cessation of unhappiness.
--
Bertrand Russell quotes (English Logician and Philosopher 1872-1970)

I couldn't commit suicide if my life depended on it.
--
George Carlin quotes (American stand-up Comedian, Actor and Author. b.1937)

The real reason for not committing suicide is because you always know how swell life gets again after the hell is over.
--
Ernest Hemingway quotes (American novelist and short-story writer, Won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1954, 1899-1961)

Suicide sometimes proceeds from cowardice, but not always; for cowardice sometimes prevents it; since as many live because they are afraid to die, as die because they are afraid to live.
--
Charles Caleb Colton quotes (English sportsman and writer, 1780-1832)

No one ever committed suicide while reading a good book, but many have tried while trying to write one.
--
Robert Byrne quotes (American Author and billiards champion player, Writer of 'Standard Book of Pool and Billiards'. b.1930)

Suicide and the Bible

Regardless of how dark the future may appear to you right now, remember, God will never abandon you. "We are pressed on every side by troubles, but not crushed and broken. We are perplexed because we don't know why things happen as they do, but we don't give up and quit. We are hunted down, but God never abandons us. We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going." II Corinthians 4:8-9 TLB,

You are of great value to God. "What is the price of five sparrows? A couple of pennies? Not much more than that. Yet God does not forget a single one of them. And he knows the number of hairs on your head! Never fear, you are far more valuable to Him than a whole flock of sparrows." Luke 12:6-7, TLB.

God cares about you and is thinking of you constantly. "How precious it is, Lord, to realize that you are thinking about me constantly! I can't even count how many times a day your thoughts turn towards me. And when I waken in the morning, you are still thinking of me!" Psalm 139:17-18, TLB.

You have been promised a marvelous future. "For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11, TLB.

Jesus will help you when your burdens are too heavy to bear. "Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you;" Psalm 55:22, NKJV.
"Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your soul. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30, KJV

You are not alone in thinking about wanting to die. Several men in the Bible felt the same way. Moses said, "I am not able to carry all this people alone, the burden is too heavy for me. If thou wilt deal thus with me, kill me at once, if I find favor in thy sight, that I may not see my wretchedness." Numbers 11:14-15, RSV.
An event in the story of Elijah is recorded: "Then he was afraid; he got up and fled for his life…But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a solitary broom tree. He asked that he might die: "It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life, for I am no better than my ancestors." I Kings 19:3-4, NRSV.

If you feel overcome with fear, God will help you. "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am Your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."  Isaiah 41:10, NKJV
"Yes, be bold and strong! Banish fear and doubt! For remember, the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9, TLB

God will never forsake you even if everyone else has."Those who know your name will trust in You, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek You.." Psalm 9:10, NIV.
"God is our refuge and strength, a tested help in times of trouble. And so we need not fear even if the world blows up, and the mountains crumble into the sea. Let the oceans roar and foam; let the mountains tremble!" Psalms 46:1-3, TLB

God offers you peace of heart and mind. "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." John 14:27, NKJV
"You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You." Isaiah 26:3, NKJV
"I have told you all this so that you will have peace of heart and mind. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows; but cheer up, for I have overcome the world." John 16:33

With God's help, keep your heart and mind focused on positive thoughts, "And now, brothers [and sisters], as I close this letter let me say this one more thing: Fix your thoughts on what is true and good and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely, and dwell on the fine, good things in others. Think about all you can praise God for and be glad about." Philippians 4:8,
